8 Years, 4 Months, and 21 Days: A Journey Back to the Studio

It has been 8 years, 4 months, and 21 days since my first husband took his last breath.

Those who followed my journey before his passing knew me as someone who never stopped painting, cooking, creating, and playing. What followed was a deep dive into the depths of my soul. I ran, got lost, and struggled to paint. Even traveling, moving, four solo U.S. road trips with Indy, rock climbing, and visiting countless countries could not fully distract me from the pain.

I bought an 1800s tavern table here in Bergerac for my studio. I love thinking about all the history, tears, and laughter that must have happened around it over the years. Now, it holds my paintings and supplies, and the energy in the space feels just right.

When Stan was sick, I told myself that after he passed, I would step back from my jewelry line, wall decor commitments, and retreats to focus solely on painting for myself—to discover what truly nourished my soul.

Now, over eight years later, I am finally back to painting, free from the weight of that grief. It feels incredible to wake up each morning eager to go into my studio and create.

Did I mention I now live in France? Bergerac, France, to be exact. And I LOVE it here! My husband Rob, me, and Indy are in the heart of old town, just a block and a half from the river. It’s the most inspiring place, how could I not be painting again?

Indy! This was from one of my favorite photos of him back from 2019 where he was so proud of stealing my chair in my jeweler’s cove in my boutique in Easton, PA.

Here are a few updates:

- Etsy Shop: Reopening by the end of the month, featuring mostly miniatures and small original paintings in vintage or locally crafted French frames by Cloè. International orders are welcome, and shipping will be free.
- Workshops & Retreats: In-home workshops will begin in May 2027, alongside a château retreat in July. I will only have 6 at my chateau retreat, 4 single rooms and one double, so if you are remotely interested, contact me and I’ll make sure you get the registration first.
